Question: 

I know it's not permissible for a woman to cut her hair but is it permissible for her to just trim it- to get rid of dead ends and to neaten it? 

Answer: 

Under normal circumstances, it would not be permissible for a woman to cut or trim her hair. However, if she has split/dead ends and there are no alternatives to overcome the split ends other than trimming it, then in order to enhance and maintain a healthy growth, she will be allowed to trim that part of the hair ii.
