The Importance of Reading
Hadrat Umar Ibn Abdul Aziz Rahimahullah say "I never saw a more sincere companion than the book" The pen is an outstanding instrument of propagating knowledge. (Mutala'ah ki Ahmiyyat)
In order to impress upon our minds the importance of the pen, Allah Ta'ala took and oath upon it. Furthermore Allah Ta'ala takes an oath upon that which the pen writes. By the oath of the pen and what the Angels write! Similarly Allah Ta'ala command us to "READ", indicating to the imporatnce of Islamic Knowledge and the importance of acquiring it.
A poet says "When the brave swear by their sword some day, and consider it among things that give honour and veneration to men, The writer's pen is sufficient for the honour and superiority, for all times to come, because Allah Ta'ala has sworn an oath by the pen"
