Question: 

Our masjid is quite small and had to be slabbed for extra space for Musallis.

You cannot see the Imam from the floor above.

Trustees have now installed cameras and screens for people upstairs and at the far end of the masjid to be able to see the Imam.

1. Is it necessary for the people upstairs to see the Imam?

2. If, like in the situation it is impossible for those upstairs to see the Imam, what if any are the rulings in this regard?

Answer: 

First and foremost, it is not necessary to look at the Imaam while praying for the validation of Salah; rather, comprehending the Imaam’s movements and actions through his voice, speakers or seeing other followers will suffice for the validation of Salah.i Shariah directs one to look at the place of Sajdah when standing in Salah, to look at the feet in Ruku’, to look at the tip of the nose in Sajdah, to look at the lap when seated, and to look at the shoulders when making Salam.ii Additionally, installing cameras & screens in the Masjid which will record and display animate objects is impermissible; therefore, the trustee should be informed concerning the matter at hand.iii

From the above, it is clear enough that, in the enquired case, the followers do not need to look at the Imaam and merely comprehending his movements and postures through the speakers, etc. will be sufficient for the validation of Salah as long as the Muqtadis (followers), who are praying upstairs, do not pray on such a place which is ahead of the Imaam’s spot.

Yes, if the Muqtadees cannot in any way, discern and comprehend his movements, it will be impermissible to follow such an Imaam.

الجواب: علم بحال الامام وبانتقالاتہ شرط ہے، خواہ سماع صوت امام سے ہو یا سماع صوت مکبر سے ، اور ایک شرط یہ ہے کہ امام سے تقدم نہ ہو، اگر کوئی تقدم ہوگیا اس کی نماز درست نہ ہوگی..امداد الاحكام ص ٥٢٧ ج ١

سوال:-} ٢١36 {کیا مساجد کے اندر اجتماع کے دوران کسی مقرر کی ویڈیو گرافی کی جاسکتی ہے ؟

جواب:- جاندار کی تصویر لینا حرام ہے ، رسول اللہ ا نے ارشاد فرمایا کہ قیامت کے دن سب سے زیادہ سخت عذاب تصویر بنانے والوں کو ہوگا ۔ ایک تو تصویر کھینچانا خود گناہ ہے ، او رمسجد جیسی مقدس جگہ میں اس کا ارتکاب یقینا گناہ بالائے گناہ ہے ،اس لیے اس سے اجتناب کرنا چاہئے ۔ كتاب الفتاوی ص ١6٨ ج 6 ط: زمزم 

الجواب :مسجد شرعی میں کیمرہ یا موبائل وغیرہ کے ذر یعہتصویر کشی کا گناہ عام جگہوں پر تصویر کشی سے زیادہ ہے؛ کیوںكہ اُس میں مسجد کی بے حرمتی بھی شامل ہے.كتاب النوازل ص ٥٠3 ج ١6 ط: دار الاشاعت
