Question:

What is the
ruling of going to a pious mahrooms qabr to gain benefit. Is there any benefit
obtained?

Answer:

The actual objective of visiting the graveyard is to remind us of the Aakhirah, hence one should visit the graveyard on a weekly basis. Attaining spiritual benefit from the deceased is not only dependent on visiting the grave of the deceased pious person, but this can be achieved even from one’s current location. One should therefore avoid visiting those types of current day Mazaars where various incorrect practices have become rife and common within them. The true benefit and blessings of the Awliya is attained by following their footsteps, that is by obeying Allah Ta'aala and emulating the blessed Sunnah of Rasulullah Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam, as practiced by them.

However, visiting the graves of the pious in order to attain spiritual benefit is permitted and even considered praiseworthy with the proviso that impermissible practices are not carried out at such places.
