Answer:
We all are prone to sin as Rasulullah sallallahu alaihi wasallam said:
كل بني آدم خطاء و خير الخطائين التوابون
Translation: All of the children of Adam are prone to sin and the best sinners are those who repent.
One should never despair of the forgiveness of Allah Ta’ala even after having committed a sin their whole life. Allah Ta’ala loves those who repent and pardons their sins. No matter how grave a sin may be, if one sincerely repents to Allah Ta’ala, surely Allah will forgive him. Allah is Ar-Rahman The Most Gracious, Ar-Raheem The Most Merciful, Al-Ghafoor The Ever Forgiving, Al-Ghaffaar The Most Forgiving, Ghaafir-udh-Dhanb The Forgiver of sins, Al ‘Afuww The Ever Pardoning, At-Tawwaab The Acceptor of repentance, Al-Wadood The Most Loving. Allah Ta’ala states in the Holy Qur’an:
قُلْ يعِبَادِيَ الَّذِينَ أَسْرَفُوا عَلَى أَنفُسِهِمْ لََ تَقْنَطُوا مِن رَّحَْْةِ اللََِّّ إِنَّ اللَََّّ يَغْفِرُ الذُّنُوبَ جَِ يعًا إِنَّهُ هُوَ الْغَفُورُ الرَّحِيمُ
Translation: Say (On my behalf, O Muhammad)” O servants of mine who have acted recklessly against their own selves, do not despair of Allah’s mercy. Surely, Allah will forgive all sins. Surely, He is the one who is the Most forgiving, The Most Merciful.
A sincere taubah should be met by three conditions:
1. To desist from committing the sin
2. To feel remorse for having committed the sin
3. To resolve to never commit that sin.
If the sin involves a human’s right, it requires a fourth condition, that is to absolve oneself from such right.
In order to assist yourself in staying away from sins, it is best to try to ensure that you find yourself in a safe environment. It will definitely be beneficial to participate in the effort of tabligh in your local masjid. Give some time for this effort. Merely spending three days in tabligh may bring a revolution in your life as this has proven to be true throughout the world.
Furthermore, find the company of a sheikh in your locality who you can relate to and who has guzzled the qualities of taqwa and adherence to the sunnah. Confide in him and adhere to his advice.
AND ALLAH TA'AALA ALONE IN HIS INFINITE KNOWLEDGE KNOWS BEST
