Answer: 

In short, it is disliked to pray in short sleeves, because it is best to read salaah is the manner and most common dress of Rasulullah sallallahu ‘alaihi wa sallam. However, if there is no full sleeved garment available, it will be allowed to pray in short sleeves without abomination. This ruling is common and applicable for Kurtas and t-shirts.i Furthermore, it is also disliked to recite the Quran Shareef in short sleeves as the best dress to recite Qur’an Shareef in is the common dress of Rasulullah sallallahu ‘alaihi wa sallam when he would recite Qur’an.ii

نصف آستین کی قمیض سے نواز پڑھنا : نبی اکرم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم سے نصف آستین کی قمیض پہننا منقول نہیں ہیں ایسی قمیص سنت ہے اس کو پہن کر نماز پڑھنا بھی خلافا سنت ہے ۔ فتاوی محمودیہ ص ۶۵۴ ج ۶ ط: فاروقیہ
