Question: 

Are plays for Jalsas permissible if the play involves 

1.The play is made up story that didn't take place .This is a entertaining way to get the message across but it in is lies as it is made up .

2.The involves calling each other names as is a scene. 

3.Imitating other people sins like how they act to just teach a lesson .

4.People act as the cat or other animal and do the actions. Also they introduced by their names and roles that they play . 


Answer: 

Lies, mocking, belittling others or addressing them with inappropriate names have been all prohibited in Shariah. [Re:- Verse 30 Surah Hajj / Verse 11 Surah Hujuraat.] We understand that the objective may be good as one intends educating the masses but there are alternate ways of imparting education that are permitted in Shariah whilst achieving similar results.

Although some of the current day scholars have granted some level of concession in hosting plays with the intent of imparting education, we at the Darul Ifta are of the opinion that one should rather impart Deeni knowledge and thereby educate the masses through dialogues or discourses, etc (as opposed to hosting plays). In doing so, the desired results will be achieved and the procedure implemented in imparting education would be within the parameters of Shariah.
