Answer:
Hereunder, we would like to mention the banned acts during Iddah, from which the permissible acts will become clear.
Prohibited acts that one should refrain from during Iddah:
To venture out of the house without a valid reason and need.
To get married during Iddah and accepting or presenting proposals clearly.
To adorn herself e.g. applying perfumes, Mehndi (henna), Surma, dyeing hair, wearing bright colors or silk, wearing jewelry, combing hair for adornment, oiling the hair for adornment, or anything which is commonly done for adornment and is eye-catching and attracting people’s attention. (Aap Ke Masa'il Aur Unka Hal Vol. 2 Pg, 692, Al-Lubaab Pg. 381-383 Bushra, Fatawa Uthmaniyyah Vol. 6 Pg. 474-477)
All impermissible acts will remain impermissible during the Iddah period as well as out of the Iddah period i.e. intermingling, meeting, talking, or remaining in seclusion with non-Mahrams and the ex-husband (in Talaq e Baiyn and Mugalladdah), specifically, as he becomes a stranger in these cases.
From the above, it is clear what is prohibited for a lady who is in Iddah. She will be allowed to speak to her Mahrams and carry out the chores within the four walls of her house and in the back yard if the back yard has high walls and people cannot see in. (Fataawa Hindiyyah Vol. 1 Pg. 353, Aap Ke Masa'il Aur Unka Hal Vol. 2 Pg. 692)
