According to Madhhab:
Aslkm Mufti saab i wanted to ask a quick question. My brother-in-law wants to get married in December. The Nikah is kept on a Friday with Ruksati. They want to give a dawat for walima but due to availability of venue they keeping it after 3 to 4 days. Is it still counted as Walima or is it counted As just a Dawat not Walima.
The ideal Sunnah is having Walimah as soon as the marriage is consummated (i.e. after the couple have had relations). If the marriage was not consummated as yet, then at the least, the Walimah should take place after the couple have spent some time in absolute privacy with each other.
Furthermore, ideally, the Walimah should be held within three days after the consummation of the marriage. However, if due to some reasons or obstacles, the Walimah is delayed and held after 3 or 4 days (as in the enquired scenario), then too it will still be considered to be a Walimah.
